Mindy offers a wide range of Classical and Traditional Chinese Medicine and her practice tools include: acupuncture, moxabustion, herbal therapy, essential oil therapy, tui na, qi gong, cupping, stone medicine/mineralogy, i ching readings, lifestyle modification support, peri-steaming and nutritional counseling.

Mindy studies Classical Chinese Medicine through the Jade Purity tradition under Jeffrey Yuen, 88th generation Daoist priest and internationally renowned practitioner and educator. She received her Masters Degree in Chinese Medicine from Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in 2007, the same year she received her NCCAOM Board Certification in Acupuncture and her license to practice acupuncture from the North Carolina Acupuncture Licensure Board. Since then, Mindy has been an advocate for bringing acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine to a wider audience by working with governments and institutions to establish professional licensing and credentials for acupuncturists.

In addition, Mindy brings a rich background of Western medical experience to her practice as an acupuncturist: as a Registered Nurse practicing at AdventHealth Hendersonville (Park Ridge) on the OB/GYN unit for over 20 years, Mindy is familiar with the language and practice of Western medicine. Mindy was the first official acupuncturist with AdventHealth Hendersonville (Park Ridge), and is astute at blending Chinese medicine theory with conventional Western medicine to create a treatment plan that supports each person’s unique holistic healing process. Another advantage of Mindy’s experience as a nurse is that she is keen to situations when a client’s needs require the attention of a Western medicine practitioner.

Mindy Gates takes great joy in expanding her herbal plant knowledge by growing over 100 varieties of herbal medicine on her homestead in rural Henderson County, where she lives with her family.
